A Word of Testimony

Psalm 34:6-8  “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out off all his troubles. This angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

My name is David and I was born into a Christian home, with Christian parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles also. I was privileged that I had this upbringing. I thank the Lord for each one of them daily as each one of them have been a good influence on me in their own way.

As I got older, I always thought that I was going to heaven, I had Christian family, i done what I was told, but it was at the Good News Club one Monday night, I was 6 years old, I can’t remember the date. I ran into the hall, like I did every week, got my seat at the front, then the Leader got up to take the lesson, they spoke on  that your parents or how good you were wouldn’t take you to heaven. I was completely baffled, I couldn’t believe it! So I listened to hear what they would say. It all made sense! You know if you are reading this and you are relying on your background getting you to Heaven, its not going to work, it says in the Bible I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh onto the father but by Me! John 14 v 6 The leader quoted this verse and it sent a shiver up my spine, I knew that something had to be done. I’m sure the leader knew that the Holy Spirit had convicted me that night, usually I would have been shouting and acting the fool during the quiz, I mind it if it was yesterday, I sat there through the whole quiz and never opened my mouth, which was a change!

Then when the meeting was over, I usually would have made a dash for the door to make sure I got my sweets, but as you can probably guess not this time, I just took my time getting to the door, I knew that the Holy Spirit had convicted me. So I jumped into the car and got home. I then ran up the stairs and went into my bedroom and got on my knees and I prayed to the Lord to save me, and He did, then the next day I told everyone that I knew in primary school that was good for me, it gave me a lot of confidence. Then in 2001 I got the shock of my life, I went “big” school, I regret not telling my classmates sooner than what it did, I think it took me about 3 years to tell someone that I was a Christian, but I have no regrets over becoming a Christian, it was the best thing that I have done in my life, it says in verse 7 - This angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delievereth them, this really means that The lord will be with you through thick and thin, He will never leave you nor forsake you Hebrews 13 v 5 WHAT A PROMISE WE HAVE! Its 11 years since I was saved and if you’re not saved, I would highly recommend it, I know that it’s not easy, but it would be the best thing that you could do in your life, the most important decision that you will make. The Lord sent his Son who died for YOU on an old rugged cross, this was the Lord showing this love for us, He loves more than anyone else so don’t put it off, you will regret it, I can assure you of that! O taste and see that the Lord is good!
