Depend On God

The summer is over and another new season of Saturday Night Youth Club (SNYC) has started.

The new season of SNYC kicked off on Saturday 15 September at 6.30pm.  This year we had a BBQ to start and what has become the traditional bouncy castle.  The only difference this year is that we had the biggest bouncy castle you ever did see.

A total of 50 turned up for our first night and also had the pleasure of the company of our adopted student from the Belfast Bible College - Patrick Kangi, and not forgetting Billy Jones who is home at the moment from the mission field with his wife Agnes and daughters Sarah and Rebecca.

Inside we had our usual fun and games for a time before the evening was brought to a close by an epilogue.

In the past we have had "themes from America" on our first night and this year was no exception.  Previous themes have been FROG (Fully Rely On God), PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens).  This year it was DOG (Depend On God) and we intend to continue this theme throughout the season.

We considered things which we rely on others for and then looked at John 15 v 5 (B) - "for without me ye can do nothing" discovering that we depend on God for absolutely everything - no exceptions.  We reminded ourselves that as Christians we need to remember to depend on God as we live our lives for Him and for those who have not yet trusted Christ as Saviour that He is the only one to depend on.

All who attended went home with a pencil with the DOG logo on it to help remind them that we all must Depend On God.

We look forward to the rest of the season at SNYC and the next big date on our calendar is the 10th November when we will be going to Belfast docks to visit the Operation Mobilisation ship 'MV Logos'.  Our guide for the evening will be Patrick Kangi who was on the ship or a time before coming to Northern Ireland to study at the Belfast Bible College.

Please, please continue to pray for the work at Saturday Night Youth Club.
